Inclusivity is a smart business move. But of course, it’s much more than a nice-to-have. At Arima & Co, we are working to establish inclusive marketing as the industry standard.
The difference will be made through radical transparency, passion, intersectionality, empowerment and education.
Our Story
Part I: The first splash
Arima grew from a realisation: marketing is broken.
It started when our founder Joyann was creating her very first website. She was scrolling through stock photo sites, searching for an image of someone typing on a keyboard, and she discovered something:
“I can’t find any hands that look like mine.”
Later, that experience would trigger a project with TechSpark called SHIFT that got BBC coverage. Together with TechSpark and Oracle’s Cloud Accelerator, Joyann created a digital library of diverse stock photos for anyone to use on a creative commons license.
Part II: The rising tide
Backed up by a strong track record in data science and communications, Joyann was soon presenting and hosting on tech panels, co-founding The BME collective, and providing training for both businesses and the government.
In 2017 she founded The Social Detail, providing social media management services for a range of organisations. After completing inclusive marketing audits for many companies, Joyann quickly realised marketers needed more support. So in 2020, she developed Inclued - an AI-assisted tool for measuring your inclusive digital footprint.
Arima & Co was born at the crest of this wave in 2021. Bringing all of Joyann’s learnings and experience together, we exist to help businesses do what they want to do: turn their good intentions into inclusive and effective marketing.

Named one of the South-West’s 30 Under 30 by Rife Mag and a TechSpark Top 50 Rising Star, Joyann Boyce is a fierce advocate for diversity within marketing and tech. Drawing on data science and communications expertise, she helps businesses make the best decisions for their reputation, reach and bottom line.

Serena Gainda
Serena Gainda graduated from Loughborough University with a first-class degree in English. A true word-nerd, nothing excites her more than a blank page and the promise of a reader with a short attention span, so she became a copywriter. Alongside producing content and copy for Arima & Co, she’s the lead copywriter for a coaching academy and runs her own copywriting business.
Jade Pett
Jade has a true passion for content creation. She’s enthusiastic to learn and with a Master’s Degree in Creative writing, is well-versed with diving headfirst into research. She is also an aspiring author and avid reader that shares her love of reading through her socials. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
